Colorado Considering Education Waivers

DENVER (AP) - Colorado education officials are considering asking the U.S. Department of Education for waivers from some of the federal government's strict accountability requirements.

State director of federal programs Patrick Chapman says the state may apply for a waiver from the law that requires 100 percent student proficiency in math and reading by 2014.

The Denver Post  says state officials want to see what is required to receive a waiver and to understand what freedoms the waiver might offer.
