Aurora May Have To Raise Property Taxes For More Police Officers

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Homeowners in Aurora may be asked to pay higher property taxes to hire more police officers.

A city rule requires Aurora have two officers for every 1,000 residents. A proposed ballot measure in November would ask homeowners to raise property taxes to fill the gap.

They could also vote to scrap the two-officers per 1,000 residents rule.

The Aurora City Council will vote later this month on whether to put the measure on the ballot.
