Denver Police Release Sketch Of Police Impersonator

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police have released a sketch of a police impersonator from an incident that occurred on July 29.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Park Avenue West near Globeville Road. A woman was stopped by an unmarked, white, Crown Victoria with red and blue lights on the top of the vehicle.

"This male approached the female's vehicle and identified himself as a Denver police officer. The male asked for her driver's license and vehicle registration," Sonny Jackson with Denver police said in a prepared statement.

"He asked the female if she knew why she was being stopped. The male then returned to his vehicle and drove away. The female drove home and reported the incident to dispatch."

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 40s, approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 with black spiky hair, and a potbelly. He was wearing dirty blue jeans and a light blue uniform shirt with a ripped breast pocket.
