Rash Of Deadly Shootings Has Police On Alert In Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Four people were killed in Colorado Springs Wednesday night in a series of shootings in the city.

Six people in all were shot.

The first shooting happened outside an Auto Zone near Palmer Park and Powers Boulevard. Witnesses say it started with a robbery. A man was killed there and another was injured. Police say the shooter carjacked a vehicle from the scene and took a hostage. That hostage was released unhurt near the Village Inn at Palmer Park and Academy.

So far there have been no arrests in the case.

Another shooting took place near Flintridge and Montebello. Three people died in that shooting.

The other shooting happened at the Camelot Apartments, near Murray and Airport. A police officer fired at a 21-year-old man who was taken to a hospital. Police said the person who was shot had a handgun.

On Thursday Sgt. Steve Noblitt said the three shootings were not connected.
