State May Have To Close Vail Pass Rest Area

VAIL, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado Department of Transportation may have to temporarily close restrooms for hikers and bikers on Vail Pass because of budget cuts.

Department spokesman Bob Wilson says the restroom on top of the pass has been closed the past few weeks because the water treatment plant needs renovations.

Over the weeks the restroom building has been closed, several portable toilets were brought in to keep the rest area open.

Wilson tells the Vail Daily that the work is almost finished, but the portable toilets are coming out even if the project is not finished.
