Power Outage Affects Southern Colorado

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) -- Electric utilities are scrambling to restore power to a big chunk of southern Colorado

Utility officials tell KRDO-TV that the outage Wednesday evening stretched from Canon City to the Kansas line and from Pueblo to the New Mexico line. Black Hills Energy officials say about 54,400 customers were affected. Some of the power has been restored.

Xcel Energy officials say all three units of the utility's Comanche power plant near Pueblo are down and they are trying to determine the cause.

San Isabel Electric says the outages started with an incident at the Comanche plant. Xcel say it's unclear if that's the case.
