TELLURIDE, Colo. (AP) – A man working on a power-line project in southwest Colorado died after he fell into a deep trench and severe weather delayed rescuers.

San Miguel County authorities say Frank Panucci of Florence was working on a mesa Monday when he fell. They say the walls of the trench he fell into collapsed in on him.

Authorities say rescuers couldn’t immediately reach Panucci because of severe lightning in the area. The coroner said he was dead when crews reached him under the dirt and debris.
