Convicted Murderer Reali's Parole Request Denied

DENVER (CBS4)- A woman who has spent two decades behind bars for killing her lover's wife won't be getting out of prison, at least for the next five years. Jennifer Reali's request for parole was denied late Wednesday.

Reali was convicted of first degree murder in 1992 in the death of Dianne Hood. Her parole date was moved from the year 2030 to July 13 because Gov. Bill Ritter pardoned Reali before he left office.

At the parole hearing on Wednesday, an El Paso County prosecutor said the murder outraged the community and suggested Reali spend at least another five years in prison.

Reali told the parole board she is not the same person she was 20 years ago, which is what she told CBS4 in an exclusive interview.

"I was born in 1962 and I don't know when I'm going to die. And the dash in between those doesn't just say convicted murderer, there's a lot of other stuff that defines who I am," said Reali.

It will be another five years before Reali is granted another parole board hearing .
