BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - A 21-year-old woman in Boulder has been arrested after allegedly blowing heroin smoke in the face of a cat, killing the animal.

Officers found the pet after responding to a domestic dispute in the 1100 block of 30th Street. A man there told police his girlfriend had hit him several times in the face. He also said she "had been smoking heroin and that she had blown heroin smoke into his roommate's cat's face," according to a Boulder police crime bulletin.

The cat, named Muffin, was taken to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and was treated for poisoning but it later died.

Danielle Blankenship was arrested on charges of assault, domestic violence and cruelty to animals.
