CDOT, Ride Smart Offer Bikers Alternative To Driving Drunk
GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - The Colorado Department of Transportation is teaming up with Ride Smart to give bikers an alternative to driving drunk. It's called the Smart Box Secure Storage Program.
A number of biker-friendly bars in the foothills are participating. It gives bikers a safe place to store their bike overnight if they have too much to drink.
"If I go to a bar and can't leave my bike there, have it be safe, I won't go there," biker Moe Wilson said.
The Buffalo Rose in Golden is letting bikers store their motorcycles in the back room of the bar. Cactus Jack's and Crossroads Pub & Grill will also have secure locations available.
CDOT provided funding because Jefferson County is consistently among the Top 3 counties in Colorado in motorcycle fatalities.
