Man Charged In Girl's Kidnapping Headed Back To Colorado

DENVER (AP) - A man accused of grabbing an 8 year-old Denver girl while she was playing and sexually assaulting her has waived extradition from New Jersey and is expected back in Colorado soon.

Lynn Kimbrough of the Denver district attorney's office said that Bret Lee Luckett Thompson, 27, waived extradition Monday. He will transported back to Colorado within the next two weeks.

Thompson was arrested June 13 in North Brunswick, N.J., where police say he was sleeping in the back of his van behind a Walmart.

Thompson has been charged with sexual assault, kidnapping and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. He is suspected of abducting the girl June 2 and driving away.

The girl was found later that day at a gas station three miles away.
