Lawsuit Claims BLM Has Not Analyzed Air Pollution

DENVER (AP) - Four groups have sued the federal Bureau of Land Management, claiming the federal agency illegally pushed through oil and gas projects in western Colorado without doing any analysis of their air pollution impacts.

The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court on Monday by public interest law firm Earthjustice on behalf of the environmental and health groups claimed the BLM violated the National Environmental Policy Act by failing to analyze the air pollution resulting from thousands of new oil and gas wells it has approved in recent years.

A spokeswoman for the bureau did not return a phone call seeking reaction.

The lawsuit claims air pollution analyzed in a 2006 environmental impact statement were never considered for some of those projects.
