Maes Writing Book On Governor's Race

DENVER (AP) - Former gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes says he is writing a book to set the record straight on the 2010 Colorado's governor's race.

Maes says he wants to expose the truth about GOP manipulation and pressure to get him out of the race.

Maes won the party nomination when a better-funded candidate was accused of plagiarism. Former GOP Rep. Tom Tancredo then declared Maes unelectable and briefly left the party to run as a third-party candidate.

Maes only got 11 percent of the vote, just above the 10 percent needed to keep the GOP's status as a major party.
