Mayor-Elect Hancock Announces New Website For Transition Team Hiring

DENVER (AP/CBS4) -- Mayor-elect Michael Hancock is accepting applications to work in his administration and asking for volunteers to be part of his transition team before inauguration next month.

Hancock plans to fill 60 positions in 40 days.

"Inclusiveness will be the core value. Today, we are inviting the entire community to be involved," said Hancock.

Hancock also announced Wednesday that the man leading his transition team is the same person who led former Mayor John Hickenlooper's transition into office in 2003. John Huggins also led Hickenlooper's transition into the governor's office.

"We expect to have 3 to 4 hundred volunteers staffing these committees," said Huggins.

Hancock easily defeated former state senator and fellow Democrat Chris Romer in a runoff election Tuesday.

Anyone interested in a job with Hancock's administration or volunteering on the transition team can apply online on a new website called Denverforward.com
