USPS Proposes Closing 20 Colorado And Wyoming Post Offices

DENVER (AP) -- The U.S. Postal Service is proposing shutting down 11 post offices in Colorado and nine in Wyoming to help deal with a budget shortfall.

The Denver Post reports tha western area USPS spokesman Al DeSarro says communities are being notified of the closures following an $8.5 billion budget shortfall last year. In Colorado, the proposed closings include Parlin, Agate, New Raymer, Lewis and Pleasant View. In Wyoming, the affected communities include Bairoil, Byron, Freedom, Little America and Meriden.

De-Sarro says names of other affected communities will be released once they are notified.

DeSarro says there will be time for public comment on the closings and followed by additional study based on the comments. A final list of closings will be announced after the study, which could take three months.
