Manager Of Safety Fires Another Denver Police Officer

Written by Brian Maass
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver's manager of safety has fired another police officer.

CBS4 learned that on May 25, Manager of Safety Charles Garcia signed orders terminating Officer Kenneth Briggle, who had been with the department for 19 years.

Denver Police Chief Gerry Whitman had previously recommended Briggle be fired.

The firing of Briggle comes after he spent 37 days in confinement in Weld County in 2010 after a judge found him in contempt of court during a divorce proceeding.

Briggle, 48, spent nights during his sentence in an unlocked county facility and was able to leave during the day, according to Weld County authorities.

Earlier this month, Briggle told CBS4, "I don't have any comment. I don't have anything I want to say to the public about that."

Garcia fired Briggle for violating two department regulations -- conduct prejudicial and conduct prohibited by law.
