Visitors Find Snow, Freezing Temps Atop Loveland Pass

DILLON, Colo. (CBS4)- It's Memorial Day weekend, but winter weather greeted visitors atop Loveland Pass on Friday.

The top of the pass is nearly 12,000 feet altitude, and temperatures were near freezing Friday afternoon.

The surrounding mountains are still covered with snow and CBS4 captured one skier hiking the pass with skis strapped to his back.

The snow took some visitors by surprise.

"I think it's beautiful here. I grew up in Salt Lake and used to ski and this is just great skiing here. It's beautiful snow this late in the year," said Jay Memmott from Kansas.
