Hundreds Lace Up Sneakers To Walk For Lupus

DENVER (CBS4)- Hundreds of people with children, dogs and strollers laced up their sneakers for "Walk for Lupus Now." The walk kicked off at 10 a.m. Sunday at Denver's City Park.

The walk raises awareness and support for Lupus research. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body, including skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body. The signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years.

For one little girl, Breanna Kerr from Westminster, it's a struggle just to be a kid and suffer from Lupus. Breanna was diagnosed at age 3, one of the youngest to be diagnosed with the disease.

CBS4's Jane Monreal talked to Breanna about a unique way she and her friends opened a lemonade stand to raise money for awareness about Lupus. Watch her report below.
