Ritter Announces Support For Hancock

DENVER (CBS4) - Former Gov. Bill Ritter endorsed Michael Hancock in the runoff election in Denver's mayor's race on Tuesday.

Ritter says he did not take the decision lightly, but supports Hancock because he feels the candidate has strong leadership.

"This quality about listening is one of the things that I've, over my life, grown to appreciate as fundamental to being a good leader," Ritter said. "Michael has that, and he has it in a very, very significant way."

Ritter's endorsement comes the day after the third place finisher in the general election -- James Mejia --endorsed Hancock's opponent Chris Romer.

CBS4 will host a debate between Romer and Hancock on Saturday, May 21 at 6 p.m.
