Thousands Attend Easter Sunrise Service At Red Rocks

MORRISON, Colo. (CBS4) - Thousands of people got up before dawn and headed to Red Rocks for the Easter Sunrise Service. Even the cold couldn't keep them away.

"The many people from all walks of life sitting together and keeping warm enjoying the music and the talking," a woman told CBS4.

They sat and prayed and sang, watching night turn into day.

"There's something for everyone and I hope we can all hear it," another woman said.

Every year 10,000 people from all over the world flock to Red Rocks to hear the Word and celebrate Christ's resurrection.

"It's just something we look forward to every year; getting up early, celebrating Christ, letting him know we're so thankful he died for our sins," Tom Reynolds said.

Reynolds brought his daughter to feel closer to God, and his mother.

"My mother was really a strong believer and she taught all us kids that," he said.

The sun would never peek out from the clouds, but the true meaning of Easter wasn't missed.
