Man Sentenced Over Alleged Rape On Ute Reservation

DENVER (AP) - A man convicted of committing sexual abuse on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation has been sentenced to 16 years and eight months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release.

A federal judge sentenced 30-year-old Adam Frost of Ignacio on Thursday.

A jury convicted him in October of aggravated sexual abuse and abusive sexual contact.

The Durango Herald reports federal prosecutors had accused him of buying alcohol for a 17-year-old girl and having sex with her against her will on Nov. 28, 2009.

Frost's attorney had argued the sex was consensual and that the girl lied about being raped after she was kicked out of Frost's house in the middle of the night.
