NFL Players Help Pastors Preach About Porn

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - More than 300 churches across the country used Super Bowl Sunday as an opportunity to talk about a subject that doesn't come up much in church -- pornography.

Pastors had some help from a half dozen players in the NFL. Those players put together a video talking about porn and how powerful it can be, how addictive it can be, and how to get free from that addiction.

Pastor Wayne Hanson of the Summit Church of Castle Rock used that video in his sermon Sunday morning to address the issue. He says that a survey shows that nearly half of Christians say pornography is a problem in the home, and as many pastors admit it presents a personal challenge for them as well.

"We're always afraid to talk about sexuality or personal matters like that, and we just want to bring into light what the Bible has to say about our thought life, what the Bible has to say about lust, what it has to say about keeping our minds pure" Hanson said.

Hanson is also hosting a men's luncheon where they can talk about any type of addictions -- not just porn.
