Auction Scheduled For Possessions Seized In Ponzi Scheme

DENVER (CBS4) - The U.S. Marshals Service will conduct a public auction of the assets accumulated by Shawn Merriman, who was convicted of running a Ponzi scheme.

Merriman was convicted of mail fraud and sentenced to serve 151 months in federal prison and pay over $20 million in restitution.

His illegal investment scheme bilked over $37 million from investors. He used some of the money to buy a wide range of items.

The auction will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Dickensheets & Associates located at 1501 West Wesley Avenue in Denver -- (303) 934-8322.

The online portion of the auction will begin at noon. A preview of the items to be sold is set for Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
