High School Instructional Coach Arrested For Sex Assault On A Child

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4)- An Instructional Coach for Mountain View High School in Loveland was arrested for sex assault on a child in a position of trust.

Courtney Bowles, 31, was arrested Friday at 10:40 p.m. after a Loveland police officer found her with a juvenile male inside a car parked at North Lake Park.

"The park closes at 10:30 and they came up on the car and that's when they discovered Ms. Bowles," said Wes Fothergill with the Thompson School District.

Bowles faces charges of sex assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and sex assault on a child in a position of trust, all class 4 felonies.

Bowles lives in Fort Collins. She worked with teachers on professional development in her position as an instructional coach and is known as a "teacher for the teachers." She also led a student club.

The Thompson School District has been notified of her arrest and notified parents by phone, and letters.

Administrators said the news of Bowles' arrest is disappointing.

"Sad that this occured in the life of one of our schools," said Fothergill.

Police believe this was an isolated incident with no indication of any other victims.

"I think it's good for parents to have open conversations with their students about, not just about their academics, but how their day is going, who they are dealing with, who they are working with, just a good wholesome conversation," said Fothergill.

Bowles has worked at the high school for about a year. She is on paid administrative leave.

According to officials at the Larimer Co. Detention Facility, Bowles should be in court Monday, Jan. 24.

Her husband declined to comment about the investigation.
