MLK Peace Breakfast Features Tribute To Civil Rights Leader
DENVER (CBS4)- Metro State hosted the 20th Annual MLK Peace Breakfast on the Auraria Campus on Friday.
Dozens attended the event featured stories and tributes to the slain civil rights leader.
There was a keynote address from former Colorado House Speaker Terrance Carroll.
He said in the wake of the Arizona shootings, it's important to remember the teachings of American leaders like Dr. King.
"So the question today, how do we reconnect with these values, how do we reach back and remind ourselves of the greater things and greater good that is inside all of us," said Carroll.
The breakfast is held each year on campus to celebrate Metro's commitment to peace and justice. The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is Monday.
