Skier Rescued After Dangerous Fall

ESTES PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - A backcountry skier who fell 900 feet down a mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park is now in the hospital.

The rescue happened near the east face of Flattop Mountain.

A man, 55, from Chicago, was skiing with two other people on Wednesday when he fell.

Rescuers faced extreme cold and dangerous terrain to reach the man at an elevation of more than 10,000 feet.

The man has several serious injuries.
