Live The Good Life 4 Less: Fitness

DENVER (CBS4) - If your New Year's resolution is to get in shape physically and financially, CBS4 has some ideas. Live the good life for less by finding ways to work out without exhausting the wallet.

January is the biggest month for new memberships, and this year there are some good deals. But there are also some effective and free ways to get in shape.

"My resolution this year was to at least work out five times a week," a woman said. "So far I've done it three times."

To encourage new clients, gyms across town are offering deals.

"We have a free 7-day pass for everybody," an employee of 24 Hour Fitness said.

24 Hour Fitness has waived initiation fees, there's no contract, and clients can sign up month by month.

"People can get started for as little as a dollar a day."

Local recreation centers are also reasonably priced. In Denver a 3-month membership costs just $52 for city residents.

There are also programs online that will walk someone through their work out. "Gym Buddy" costs just $2.99 to download. It allows the user to chart, log and monitor progress.

There are also free programs for bikers, runners and walkers.

It seems this year finances can't be used as an excuse for fitness woes.
