Blood Drive Held In Hit & Run Victim's Honor
DENVER (CBS4) - Sixty-six people rolled up their sleeves on Sunday in Stapleton to honor Laurie Gorham, the pregnant woman who was hit by a car last month.
Gorham survived the crash, but her baby boy did not make it. The hit-and-run driver has yet to be caught and arrested.
After the crash, so many people wanted to help. The Gorham family said it was Laurie's wish for people to organize a blood drive. She lost a lot of blood from her injuries and had to be given blood.
A family friend talked about why he showed up to donate blood.
"I've never done this before, so I figured the time was right, and now. It was a good idea," Neil Lerner said.
Laurie is out of the hospital and recovering at home.
