Some Flights At DIA Affected By Northeast Storm

DENVER (CBS4) - Some air travelers in Colorado who were hoping to fly to the East Coast on Monday woke to the news that their flight was canceled.

The three major New York area airports -- LaGuardia, JFK and Newark -- remained closed early Monday morning with all of the snow from a winter storm. Another 20 inches of snow were predicted to fall in Philadelphia.

More than two dozen flights that were set to fly out of Denver International Airport were canceled on Sunday. As of 6 a.m. Monday nine flights scheduled to leave on Monday were canceled.

Some travelers CBS4 interviewed said they are being told they now won't be flying out of DIA until Wednesday or even Friday.

Most airlines are waiving rebooking fees to reschedule canceled flights, but travelers interested in doing that have to take action soon because seats are filling up fast.

Travelers may also want to try booking a flight that goes to a West Coast city, such as Los Angeles, and connect to your East Coast destination through there.
