1 Victim Of Plane Crash Was Air Force Member

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The military says one of two people killed in the crash of a small civilian plane in Colorado was an Air Force member stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.

The plane crashed Wednesday at Colorado Springs Airport.

The pilot and one passenger were aboard. Their names haven't been released, but Ellsworth officials confirmed Thursday that one was assigned there.

The plane was registered to Anthony Martin Riggan of Rapid City, S.D., which is near Ellsworth.

The Air Force Academy says Riggan graduated from the school in 2007.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot had aborted one landing attempt and was preparing for another attempt when the plane crashed.

Airport officials say the airport was foggy and visibility was low.
