Police Investigate Suspicious SUV

DENVER (CBS) - Denver Police are conducting tests to try to determine if a vehicle found in a department store parking lot is the one involved in a hit and run accident last week that left a pregnant woman critcally injured and her baby still born.

A tipster spotted the black 1993 Chevy Blazer at the store at Quebec and Smith Road and alerted police Thursday night. The vehicle had front end damage and matched the description of a vehicle police were looking for in connection with the Dec. 9 crash that left Laurie Gorham in critical condition and also led to the stillborn birth of her near-term baby.

Gorham was hit while crossing the street at Central Park Blvd. and 29th when the collision happened. That's not far from where the collision happened.

Authorities will be doing a forensic examination of the vehicle. Among the things they will look for are any fibers from Gorham's clothing and any of her blood.

Denver police questioned a woman and a man as persons of interest in the crash. Both were released.

Gorham remains hospitalized but her condition is improving.
