Hickenlooper Inauguration To Be Scaled Back

DENVER (CBS4)-- Governor-elect John Hickenlooper is getting ready to celebrate his inauguration as Governor of Colorado next month. But don't expect anything too over the top.

The idea for the party is to be frugal with a Colorado theme. The inaugural dinner and dance will be a dressed-down affair at the Fillmore Auditorium.

"We need to have a lot of buffet stations and leave the room open to make sure they can get to the bars and really enjoy this event," said Jeremy Bronson with the Occasions by Sandy catering company.

About 3,000 to 3,500 guests will dine on beef brisket and beer brewed in Colorado.

The Governor-elect even wants a pig roast.

"We're going to do a donut hole that we roll in milk chocolate and then Enstrom's Almond Toffee, so again, celebrating a wonderful Colorado company," said Bronson.

Hickenlooper will be sworn in January 11th. Tickets for the inauguration party are $100 each.

Once enough money is raised to cover costs, proceeds will be donated to selected  charities.
