Colorado consistently ranks as one of the healthiest states in the U.S. year after year. If you’re ready to hop on board the health wagon, consider building a home gym to save tons of money over time on what you would pay for a gym membership.

Space
The first thing to do is look at the space you have to work with. Home gyms can be added to spare bedrooms, basements and even sun rooms. If you don’t have a ton of room, consider a few pieces of foldable equipment that can be stored in a closet or under a bed. Add in a few free weights, a yoga mat, stability ball and some resistance bands for a complete home gym that takes up little square footage and can be stowed away when not in use.

Equipment & Budget
If you’re lucky enough to have an entire room to dedicate to your workout space, you’ll need to decide what type of equipment to install. Think about what types of exercises you enjoy. If you hate running, it may not be wise to invest in a treadmill. Instead, consider an elliptical or stationary bike or, if working with smaller budget, jump rope or get an aerobics step and some tapes for the cardio portion of your workout. If investing in a larger piece of equipment, be sure to choose a piece that is versatile and can be used to work out multiple muscle groups. This will save you both space and money.

Local Businesses To Help You Get Started
If you’re not sure where to start, luckily there are many local businesses in Denver that can help you choose the right equipment to fit your space, budget and motivational needs to keep exercising.
