Support Open Door Ministries when you run with your family in Cheesman Park at the end of May. The nonprofit supports many individuals, including urban youth, the unemployed and women returning to society from the sex trade. When you run this morning, you'll be running in the name of poverty in Denver. Help Open Door Ministries spread the love of God to those whose needs are more than others. The goal is to reach $100,000.

Organized by the American Heart Association, this annual walk is a 5K that meanders through downtown Denver. Traditionally a walk, this year the option for a competitive run is also available. The fundraising goal for this run/walk is $4 million. Top Walkers, or those who raise more than $1000, will receive plenty of prices including two tickets to a Colorado Rockies game and access to the Heart Walk VIP tent (massages and giveaways make it worthwhile post-race!).

This is not your typical race. An urban challenge akin to a scavenger hunt or adventure race, this is hosted by Challenge Nation. Their website says it all: "Think of it like a 5K that tests your brains as much as your legs, with bigger prizes and a whole lot more fun -- we guarantee you'll have a blast!" The race is run in teams, so grab your friends and family members and make your way out to downtown Denver on a Saturday. Winners get gift cards and entry to the national championship race.
