Top Spots To Meditate In Denver

With today's hectic schedule, as you rush from home to work to soccer practice to the grocery store and home again, it can be difficult to find your own center of balance and to feel grounded in such a chaotic world. This is where meditation can come in very helpful, however some people struggle with shutting down the constant list of "to do" in their heads or learning the most effective way to meditate. Here are five wonderful local spots offering guided meditation, classes and drop-in places for you to visit just to meditate.

Whether you're new to meditation or you've been practicing the art for many years, the Kadampa Meditation Center Colorado is a welcoming place. You'll find classes for all levels of interest and experience as well as Buddhist teachings and more. The program is open to all backgrounds, religions and faiths. Daily meditation and prayers are held regularly throughout the week and there are study and meditation programs for those interested in learning more about the practice. You can also simply drop in the center for free lunchtime meditations for 30 minutes of pure relaxation and focus during a busy day.

Mayu Sanctuary offers drop-in meditation, foot baths and more six days a week (it is closed on Sundays.) You can visit for 15 minutes or for a full day, and no meditation experience of any kind is required. When you drop in for a short daily meditation, you'll find a comfortable place to sit, reflect, pray or do anything else your mind and heart requires. Plus, hot tea is offered with every visit. You may also want to take advantage of the relaxing foot baths here, which offer tired feet a relaxing soak while bringing fluidity and balance back to your body.

Have you ever tried Full Moon Meditation? Samadhi Center For Yoga offers special mediation every month on the full moon. Led by Kimberly Braun, a Meditation Coach, Reiki Master and more, these drop-in classes are perfect for those looking to start incorporating meditation into their every day lives, but aren't sure just where to start. If you take any of the Yoga classes here, this course is offered free, or you can drop-in for just the monthly meditation for $16.

Meditation Denver is another wonderful organization offering classes, instruction and a place to visit for deep, thoughtful and relaxing meditation. Sunday mornings you can find a class called "Exploring Meditation" which allows you to learn the fundamentals of silent meditation and how things like posture, breath and awareness can influence your meditation practices. On Thursday evenings, there is a class called "Continuing Dharma Studies" for those with more meditative experience, looking to further their education. Stop by this friendly center to learn more about the offerings and to see if meditation is right for you.

Vital: Center for Mind-Body Health holds several daily classes for meditation, breath work, herbs and other healing practices. All new students to Vital are required to take one to two classes per week, starting with the elements and beginning classes, then they can progress to advances levels together. It's a specific program, designed to teach you everything you need to know about the practice of meditation and mind-body health. You'll also find retreats like a seven day intensive program offered once a year for lots of intensive training on the philosophy and practices of the Vital program.
