We hold parades, gatherings, festivals and other events to thank them for the sacrifices they've made and the freedom they've helped to protect. Although we can never fully repay them, we can give back little by little in order to make everyday life a little easier. Celebrate Veterans Day with an activity that allows the whole family to spend some quality time together. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science offers free admission year-round to former and active members of the military with a valid military I.D. This makes it the perfect place to bring the kids or grandkids for a nice, informative day out seeing some of the spectacular exhibits the museum has to offer. To celebrate Veteran's day, both McCormick's and Schmick's locations in Denver will be offering a free entree' to members of the armed forces with a valid military I.D. on Sunday, Nov. 8. McCormick's and Schmick's is an upscale steak and seafood restaurant with colorful cocktails and award-winning culinary creations. Their menu is full of dishes inspired by the Pacific Rim, the Gulf of Mexico, as well as regional delicacies. They often get their steaks from farms here in Colorado and their seafood is as fresh as we can get here in our landlocked state.

Looking for a reason to head out on the town and take in some local entertainment? The Colorado Symphony does its part to support veterans by offering discounts to select performances. Veterans and current military personnel with a valid form of I.D. are eligible to purchase tickets to their Masterworks, Pops, Holiday, Inside the Score and Family series concerts at the cost of two tickets for $5 apiece, or up to four at a discounted rate of 20 percent. Tickets to these shows typically begin at around $30, and can run all the way up to $90, so this is a pretty darn good bargain.
