Top Parks In Denver For A Winter Nature Walk

Most people are probably familiar with parks like City Park and Sloan Lake. However, Denver has more than 200 city parks and 100 miles of trails to take advantage of. If you are looking to explore a new park for your winter walks look no further because we've rounded up a few of the best. There's nothing like breathing in the crisp air of the colder temperatures under the warming rays of the sun. It sharpens the mind and opens the eyes to the natural beauty Colorado has to offer. Bear Creek Lake Park

Bear Creek Lake Park has more than 2,600 acres of open space with paved and dirt trails to walk. A day pass is $5. The park is home to diverse wildlife, three lakes, two creeks, an archery range, horseback riding trails and a campground with more than 40 sites. The park is filled with birds, fish and prairie animals. Four-legged wildlife sightings are not uncommon at sunrise or dusk.

If you are looking for a new park to explore with your dog during the winter months, check out Berkeley Park. You can't miss it, it's near Lakeside Amusement Park. This park has an amazing view of the Rocky Mountains. Take a stroll around the lake or take your best bud to the dog park to socialize.

In the Stapleton neighborhood, you'll find the third largest park in Denver. Central Park is a beautifully planned 80 acres of recreational fun. The amenities include covered picnic areas, ball courts and fields, a pavilion you can rent and an amphitheater. There are trails to walk with a lake, a Dr. Seuss playground, views of the mountains and plenty of people to watch. To top it all off, this is also a great place to take the kid's sledding.

Ruby Hill

Sloan Lake is another go-to park for Denverite. It has a crystal shot of the Rocky Mountains as its natural backdrop. The lake's walking trail is far from boring.
