Denver is one of the most outdoorsy cities in the country, with the majority of its population regularly partaking in outdoor activities such as biking, hiking and recreational sports. Not only that, but Denver is home to a plethora of puppy owners who enjoy taking their four-legged friends for a leisurely stroll or a day out at the park. Some places make this difficult, however, as they impose leash restrictions designed to keep your hound's fun at bay. However, there are also plenty of parks that are much more dog-friendly in that they either don't have leash restrictions or have an area designed specifically for dogs to run and play. Here are some of the best parks in Denver to take your four-legged friend to for a puppy play date.
Barnum Park
360 Hooker St.
Denver, CO 80219
(720) 913-1311
www.denvergov.org

Located right next to 6th Ave. and Federal Blvd., Barnum Park is an outstanding place to take your pooches for a play date for a few reasons. Fist off, and most importantly, they allow dogs to be off-leash, so you don't have to worry about your furry friend being confined to your hip. Not only that, but they provide bags for you to pick up after our pet so you can do so if you forgot the bags at home. Lastly, there's a small pond there with excellent views of the city for when you're done running around and are looking to just hang out.

Westminster Hills Dog Park
Simms St. and 105th Drive
Westminster, CO 80005
(303) 658-2192
www.ci.westminster.co.us

One of the bigger off-leash areas, Westminster Hills provides more than 420 acres of grounds specifically for your dogs to roam. It's easily one of the largest dog parks in the city, and is comprised of big fields that are full of trees, so it's not quite as muddy as most dirt parks. Plus, they compost waste and even provide compostable bags.

Elk Meadow Off-Leash Dog Park
31234 Stagecoach Blvd.
Evergreen, CO 80439
(303) 271-5925

A little further West of Denver, just outside of Evergreen, you'll find Elk Meadow park. This is a great park to bring your dog, especially if you love hiking, as there is tons of open space as well as some adverse terrain. Plus, it's a perfect place to go if you're trying to escape the hustle and bustle of Denver, yet it's not too far away. As with most of the other places on this list, it's an off-leash space, so you don't have to worry about keeping your dogs close.

Fuller Dog Park
2801 Williams St.
Denver, CO 80205
(720) 913-1311
www.denvergov.org/Dog-parks

Fuller Park is another great spot to bring your pups for a play date as it is a park dedicated solely to dogs and playing together. You have to keep them on a leash while outside of the fenced area, however, when inside the area they're free to roam and mingle with the other dogs at their leisure. If your dog isn't as social as others, don't worry because they have a special fenced in area for pups that aren't as comfortable.

Wynetka Ponds
5875 S. Lowell Blvd.
Littleton, CO 80123
(303) 798-5131
www.ssprd.org

Last but not least, we have Wynetka Ponds dog park, a beautiful open space tailored for puppy play. They have waste stations set up around the park, as well as drinking fountains for both humans and dogs. Again, it is an off-leash area so your four-legged friends are free to do as they please, and it's easily one of the prettier dog parks in Denver.
