Experts have long touted the benefits of playing outside on a regular basis, from improved mood to better physical health. The health benefits of yoga have also been recognized, drawing participants of all ages and skill levels. With mild weather and gorgeous views, many Denver area residents have opted to take their yoga practice outside. If you want to experience an outdoor yoga class, check out one of these venues. Some of them are only held a few times a year, while others practice weekly, but each offers an outdoor experience with expert instructors.

The River Power Yoga offers power yoga classes for people of all ages and abilities, with qualified instructors who pay attention to student needs. The studio also hosts, sponsors and participates in a variety of outdoor yoga events, including Yoga On the Steps, which takes place at the state capitol building. Take in a yoga class surrounded by the beauty of the Botanic Gardens as the York Street Gardens location hosts its Evening Vinyasa Yoga class at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights through Nov. 18. The class is free with admission to the gardens, and lasts for an hour. While it's just as challenging as an indoor class, it is still appropriate for beginners as well. Join fellow yoga practitioners at one of Denver's most beautiful venues. If you can't make it to a class this year, the Denver Botanic Gardens will likely start the class again in the spring.

Fitness for Living has a wide variety of indoor and outdoor training and fitness programs, including outdoor yoga, which runs from April through September. Its outdoor yoga classes take place at Chautauqua Park and offer hands-on instruction. Fitness for Living is a camp-style program with a comprehensive approach to fitness. Conveniently accessed by anyone who works downtown, Civic Center Moves is a free outdoor exercise program presented by the Civic Center Conservancy and sponsored by Connect for Health Colorado. The series offer three yoga classes, Monday evening and Thursdays at lunch and in the evening, through Oct. 8th. It is designed for people of all levels and offers a supportive environment in which to practice. A unique opportunity to practice yoga in the heart of the city, Civic Center Moves is fun for all participants.

While Red Rocks Amphitheater is known for concerts, it is also a popular fitness destination. Throughout the summer, the venue hosts Yoga on the rocks, a yoga class that is as challenging as it is fun. After you've successfully made it into the amphitheater, you can challenge yourself with a class that is hosted by expert instructors from Core Power Yoga. Held four times each summer, these classes sell out quickly, so keep an eye on the Red Rocks information page to ensure that you will be admitted. Admission is $12 per session or $38 for a season pass.
