Denver has so much going on, it can take years to truly explore all the city has to offer. Why not start by taking some nighttime strolls around the parks and neighborhoods to get to know your city a little better? Find art museums, your favorite new restaurant, or just a quiet spot to sit and think. Here are four of the best city walks to take after hours, best enjoyed with a  group of friends.

Cheesman Park
Located between 8th and 13th Avenues, Franklin and Race Streets
Denver, CO 80206

Cheesman Park is one of the prettiest parks in the city to wander on any given day. But at night, you might get to experience another side of the park: the darker, haunted part. Built on top of an old 20th-century cemetery, it's said that some 2000 people are still buried under the park lawns. Be prepared to encounter a ghost or two floating through the Walter Scott Pavilion, the park's famous Grecian structure that is often used for wedding settings. Just past that are the Denver Botanic Gardens, a lovely walk when they're open in the day.

Cherry Creek and Country Club Historic Neighborhood
Located between University and Downing Streets, East Bayaud and 6th Avenues
Denver, CO 80218

One of the classiest and most expensive neighborhoods in Denver, Cherry Creek is home to a major shopping center, the country club and mansions on just about every street. You'll love wandering the romantic streets on foot or by bike, passing by some of Denver's historical sites and modern enhancements at once. The Historic Neighborhood is located just north of the country club and features early 20th-century architecture on the more than 300 houses that are part of the historic neighborhood association. Day or night, this is a great place to explore Denver.

LoDo
Located between Lawrence Street and the South Platte River, 14th and 20th Streets
Denver, CO 80202

There is so much to do all over Denver, but LoDo (or Lower Downtown) is the hub of it all. If you want to get to know the city, wander the streets of LoDo in the late evenings, and you'll experience some of the best eating and drinking Denver has to offer. The city is especially proud of it's breweries, and you'll find those on almost every street corner: check out Wynkoop and Rock Bottom to start. Start along the 16th Street Mall, where you can find plenty of shops and restaurants, and head towards the iconic Union Station as you hop from bar to brewery and restaurant to ale house to get a real taste of Denver, Colorado.

Washington Park
Located between South Downing and South Franklin Streets, East Louisiana and East Virginia Avenues
Denver, CO 80210
www.denver.org

South of Cherry Creek and bordering the University of Denver is Washington Park, a 155-acre area that encompasses two gardens and two lakes. This is a relaxing park that families picnic in by day, and quiet nighttime strolls are not uncommon. Easily accessible and close to schools and shopping areas, this park is well lit and safe. Head here any time of day or night.
