There is a word in Denver that’s synonymous with the city’s best jazz, and that word is “Dazzle.” Being under 21 won’t stop you from experiencing the rich musical culture this Golden Triangle Museum District venue has to offer. Enjoy the smolder of excellent live jazz and some mighty good food from a varied menu that has everything from garlic cheese bred and alfredo pizza to California burgers and monster cookie ice cream sandwiches. Dazzle is open to all ages until 10:30 p.m., but after that, it’s for 21 and over crowd only.

Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom is a terrific historical concert venue for live music lovers with an edge. The building itself used to be the old Casino Cabaret, which has played host to such famous musicians as BB King and Tina Turner. Everyone ages 16 (when accompanied by an adult) and up are welcome, and shows tend to start early, making this a perfect spot for those with a curfew to keep in mind. This is a slick hangout for hipsters, rockers, punks and grunge-seekers alike. Cervantes’ is by no means a dance club or lounge, but it’s a great place to hang out if you like smoke and haze. Check out Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on Tuesdays, as they occasionally have free admission.

D-Note allows under 18 guests at a lower cover charge, so you can save those dollars for some tasty grub. Check out the menu; the themes are all musically related and excellently prepared. As for the entertainment, you’ll find everything from open mic nights to salsa dancing to jazz music. You can even find free form yoga and Zumba classes every weekend. The D-Note is a quick drive out of the Denver city center, but well worth it.

The Church was so named because of its historical past, and one look at the stained glass, tall ceilings and stone exterior will make it clear that this was once a place of worship. What used to house the faithful back in the late 1800s now serves as one of Denver’s hottest dance parties for the 18 and up crowd. While you will have to pay a cover if you’re under 21, those ages 18 to 20 are invited to dance the night away on Electrobot Thursdays with DJ Danny, who will be spinning hip hop and top 40, or DJ Tower who will be playing indie and electro music. You can also come back for Global Fridays, Latin music Saturdays with merengue, reggaeton and free salsa lessons, or Service Industry Night Sundays. There’s even a sushi bar in the lower level, dubbed “the catacombs,” for those who want to imbibe in some food after a night of dancing.
