With summer vacation kicking off, many parents are planning activities to keep the kids from getting bored. When temperatures rise beyond comfort and when the rain won't stop, going to the movies offers the perfect respite. However, taking the family to the movies can get very expensive, very quickly. Thankfully, many movie theaters in the area offer various deals of which you can take advantage to save your wallet. Many also feature special showings specifically for kids. Starting on June 6, Harkins Theaters in Northfield will be running its Summer Movie Fun event. The event allows kids to see a movie per week for 10 weeks, including The Peanuts Movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Minions, King Fu Panda 2 and many more. Parents can purchase a season pass, which allows access to all 10 movies, or individual tickets can be purchased on the day of the show. Simply pick up a schedule at the box office to find out which movies are playing and at what time. Since the event is specifically geared toward children, all adults must be accompanied by a child.
