The First Friday Art Walk is always a huge event in Denver and it is the best way to enjoy the large variety of art available in the area. On the first Friday of every month, all of the art galleries along Santa Fe Drive open up their doors to welcome visitors. Many serve free wine and a lot of them will have the artists present, so you can ask them questions and learn a little more about their work. Nearly 60 different galleries in the area participate each month, and you’ll also find street vendors, food trucks and even some street performers. The Denver Art Museum is a wonderful way to spend a date in Denver. The museum is one of the largest of its kind from the West Coast to Chicago, and the collections are often changing, with lots of amazing touring shows stopping in for special events and premiers. From classic to contemporary and from Impressionist to abstract, there is a little something for everyone, plus the iconic building itself is a work of art. Make sure to stop by for a romantic meal at Palettes Restaurant while you are there and fill up on some truly spectacular contemporary American cuisine. It is a wonderful way to end a date after spending a couple of hours browsing the huge museum.

This wonderful museum has provided a home to contemporary and modern art in Denver since 1996, though it moved to the current location in 2007. There are five galleries on two floors, plus a great rooftop café for a drink or a meal after you are done exploring all of the art. You’ll find some of the best regional and national artists on display here, plus the great thing about contemporary art is how much dialogue it can spark, making it an excellent date night idea.

Why not spend a fun date learning a new skill? There are lots of great activities you can enjoy at Colorado Free University. Try your hand at clay or mosaics or learn about glasswork or jewelry making. You can take painting, drawing, paper crafts or even woodworking and furniture making. There is a huge variety of classes to enjoy, and the conversational style and laid-back nature of the classes makes for a truly fun date night.
