With the holiday season squarely in our rear view for the time being, it’s time to focus on those pesky resolutions and plans for the new year. What better way to reward your resolve than with some live music? Mark your calendars now because Denver’s 2013 concert season opens with fire. Here are a few of the premiere events in Denver to look forward to early in the year. Be sure to check calendars regularly though because they will fill quickly and there will be many more not-to-be-missed shows and artists booked.

This dynamic duo is a super pop combo that literally lit up the charts for the second half of 2012. Carly Rae Jepsen and Justin Bieber will do the honors of kicking off the concert season in 2013 at the Pepsi Center as the royalty of the youth pop culture. It’s “Call Me Maybe” meets “Boyfriend” for a full-blown love affair that can only lead to a lasting “As Long As You Love Me” climax. If you don’t wind up finding a ticket for this show, Bieber announced he’ll be back later in the year.

Just four short days after Ms. Goulding pulls through town, another UK superstar will grace the stage of the 1stBank Center in Broomfield. Hailed as one of the most talented singer/songwriters of this generation, Ed Sheeran has earned the respect of industry elite, his peers and fans internationally. With this being his first headlining tour through the US, Sheeran will be supported by Rizzle Kicks and Foy Vance for an evening of quirky and passionate acoustic indie pop. Passion Pit will bring its emotionally charged electro/indie/funk blend back to Denver for the first time since visiting in 2010 with Muse. This time, the Boston-based band will be headlining in support of its 2012 release “Gossamer” which saw lead single “Take A Walk” climb into the top five on alternative charts. The set promises to be a blend of the best of old and the evolution of new. Passion Pit consistently delivers a genuinely artistic performance and will be supported by Matt & Kim, another fun and quirky pop/indie duo.
