New Orleans might be far from Denver, but there are still plenty of great places to celebrate Mardi Gras. Whether it be some great New Orleans food or drink, Denver has many fun options. Perhaps you are looking for an extravagant party or just a quiet place to kick back with some friends? No matter what you are looking for, there are some great events to attend this year. Below are five of Denver's best places to celebrate Mardi Gras 2013.

The Doubletree Hotel in the Denver Tech Center will be hosting its third annual Mardi Gras party on Saturday, February 9. This is a popular event to attend in Denver each year. General admission tickets are $29 and VIP tickets are $59.  There will be DJs, a live band and live performers, as well as a light show and free Mardi Gras beads. Be responsible by booking a room so you can party hard and spend the night.

Bayou Bob's is a very popular spot located just off the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. It is celebrating Mardi Gras from Friday, February 17 through Tuesday, February 21. There will be many fun things in store including bead and swag tosses, face paint and boiled crawfish. The drink specials themselves will peak your interest, such as $5 top shelf hurricanes, $3 shot specials and much, much more.

Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret celebrates Mardi Gras each year with its Fat Tuesday with Bella Diva Dance Carnival Glitz & Glam. It's a very popular annual show and Lannie's even suggests that you wear your own Mardi Gras outfits – there could be a prize in it for you. This is a great place to see some fun and exciting dancing as well as check out some special Mardi Gras drinks.

Get a head start on this year's Mardi Gras party at Casselman's Bar & Venue with a party like no other on Friday, February 8 at 7 p.m. Casselman's will be featuring The Cirque Side of the Moon – A Voodoo Mardi Gras Masquerade. Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" will be performed in its entirety by Wish We Were Floyd. There will be an aerialist, acrobats, fire, trapeze artists and much more for your enjoyment. Tickets range between $20 and $40.

Gumbo's Louisiana Style Café is the perfect place to celebrate Mardi Gras this year. Not only does it serve authentic New Orleans fare, but it also has some fantastic drink specials. Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m and includes specialty drinks ranging between $3 and $5. Gumbo's also has small plates, which include chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, red beans and catfish, just to name a few. These small plates range around only $3 to $4 an order.
