Top Bars In Colorado's Foothills

First Street Pub(credit: First Street Pub & Grill)
We all know how great Denver's bar scene in districts like LoDo, the Highlands and South Broadway is, but how about closer to the mountains? The foothills are home to some pretty great cantinas as well, and what they lack in lights and pizazz they make up for with great deals, strong drinks and friendly attitudes. Here are some of the best bars to check out in the foothills.
Bear Creek Restaurant
25940 CO-74
Kittredge, CO 80457
(303) 674-9929

The Bear Creek Restaurant is located between Morrison and Evergreen in the little town of Kittredge, right along the stream. It's situated right on the water, making the viewing of animals, fish and the lush meadow in the back very easy. The service is very friendly, and the food is delicious. While they are not a traditional bar per say, they do have a bar area inside, and are known for their Bloody Marys. Whether you're returning from a long day in the mountains, or just need somewhere to start your day trip off right, The Bear Creek Restaurant is the place to go.

The Rock Rest has been a Denver area legend since the 19th century. Constructed in 1885, The Rock Rest began as a trading post and stagecoach stop that later was converted to a gambling hall and brothel, and finally into the great, historic bar that it is today. Legends such as Louis Armstrong have performed there, while countless others, like Keith Richards, have partied hard within the establishment. They have excellent happy hour deals, delicious food and tons of history. Next time you're in Golden, or if you're just looking for a great bar with a country atmosphere, be sure to make a pit stop at The Rock Rest.
