The Tattered Cover Bookstore

The Bookies bookstore is a special one because it focuses on children’s books and supplies for teachers and students. It is a great local store because it often works with area schools to provide reading lists and plenty of exclusive teachers’ supplies. For more than 30 years, teachers and parents in the know have relied on Bookies to provide a fun environment for children’s books and school supplies. Plus the annual nights for teachers is always a huge hit. Be sure to check out the weekly story time and bring your kids in on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. every week for a new story.

The historic Highlands Square neighborhood knows just how lucky it is to have West Side Books in its neighborhood. This 15-year-old bookstore is a gem among gems for many reasons. It features many fun events including live music from many local and national musicians and brings in plenty of impressive speakers. Make sure to stop in on the second Saturday of each month when there is always some fun literary event going on. Or just swing by on a Tuesday or Saturday to trade in your books for store credit. You can get rid of all those books you’ve finished reading and start stocking up on some new titles.
Murder By The Book

If you are a fan of mystery novels, then you really need to visit Murder By The Book. This amazing store is easy to miss, as it looks just like your average Victorian home on an historic street.
