While some may say their favorite part of the golf course is the "19th hole," most people play golf for the healthy combination of exercise and relaxation. One of the best parts of the game is that a player doesn't have to be good at it to have fun. Friends get together for the chance to enjoy walking on the green grass among trees under Colorado's bright blue skies and engage in a little friendly competition. While it can be a rather expensive sport, the Denver area offers some beautiful yet affordable golf courses to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Centrally located near Cherry Creek Reservoir, Kennedy Golf Course is one of the best values for a challenging and fun day outside. The greens and fairways are in good shape, open and have large trees to provide some much needed shade from the summer sun. With three separate nine-hole courses, a par-three course and even miniature golf, Kennedy has something for everyone. The course is mainly flat which makes walking easy. At the end of the round, it offers a friendly staff and good food to kick back and relax.

Built in 1918, Fitzsimons Golf Course not only has a very pretty yet affordable course, it also has sentimental value that comes with history. President Eisenhower used to play golf here during his summer vacations in Denver. There is even a spot called "Ike's Tree" smack in the middle of one of the par fours. While it used to be an old military course and still sits amongst the old military-style housing, it is open to the public. It's rarely crowded, a very decent course and a great value.
