Q: Welcome to Defend Your Ride Denver! What are your names?
Scott (father): Scott.
Ben (son): Ben.
Q: Nice to meet you Scott and Ben! What kind of car do you have?
S: We have a 2007 Subaru Outback.
Q: Fun car! I’ve always admired those cars. Do you take it to the mountains?
S: We do. It’s primarily the car for the kids to bop around town and we take it to the mountains skiing and so forth.
Q: How old are you?
S: I am 47.
Q: What is the car’s main use? You said bopping around town?
S: It’s the kids’ car. They drive it to school and to work and other things.
Q: Ben, you are learning to drive on the Subaru, is that right?
B: For the most part.
Q: How has the experience been?
B: Little bit.
Q: Have you made many mistakes?
B: Probably a couple.
Q: How does he do, dad?
S: He does pretty well, better than a year ago.
Q: Do you have any rules for the car?
S: The kids have to keep it clean. They have a curfew. They have to make sure it has gas, you know, the basics.
Q: What is the curfew for kids these days?
S: For my son it’s 10:30 p.m. My daughter, she’s a little bit older and off in college, so I’m not sure what her curfew is.
Q: Do you have a nickname for the Outback?
S: The Soup. The Soup is short for Subaru.
Q: That’s a cute name. What do you think your next car will realistically be?
S: This car will probably be in the family for a while. We’ll probably be in the market at some point soon. We’re thinking about a hybrid of some type. Possibly a Honda Hybrid, or possibly an Acura Hybrid. I have a Saab, so probably not another Saab, since they don’t make them anymore.
Q: Thanks for taking the time to talk with us about your Subaru. Good luck on your driving test Ben!
B: Thank you!
