Q: Welcome to Defend Your Ride Breckenridge Edition! What can you tell us about your car?
A: It’s a 2006 Mazda three hatchback, 2.3 liter. It’s two-wheel drive, front-wheel drive. I’d say it’s a pretty even 50/50 split between functionality of getting to and from work, and recreation.
Q: What sports keep you driving around in your Mazda?
A: Mountain biking and skiing, primarily. That’s the reason I’m here. There’s good recreation opportunities.
Q: You said you got Manny as a graduation present? Did you get to choose the vehicle or was it a surprise?
A: I got to choose. The Subaru was my last car and that was a hand-me-down from mom. It was at a point of being totaled and so this was kind of an unplanned graduation gift, but the timing worked out well. I got it used with 26,000 miles on it.
Q: Is there anything else you want us to know about Manny the Mazda?
A: Manny the Mazda has been to the garage for some minor steering repairs in the last two months and hopefully it will be going strong for another 150,000 miles. I’m going to coax it for as many of those thousands of miles as I can.
